In the late 1990s, Ketut Sujane witnessed the emergence of the Classic Wijaya Arts movement, where "wijaya" signifies "victory." Recognizing this opportunity, Ketut pursued painting lessons and began creating stunning floral batik and captivating landscape scenes using the traditional batik resist dye technique. He expertly applies his intricate designs by hand with a canting pen filled with molten wax and enhances them with vibrant synthetic dyes. As he honed his craft, he expanded his offerings to include pareos (beach wraps or sarongs) adorned with striking images of large Balinese flowers or marine life, all made from soft and flowing rayon material. Ketut commands a small shop strategically located in front of his house in Sanggingan, Ubud. In addition to selling his unique creations, he actively leads batik classes, empowering others to learn this beautiful art form.
